National day of library action – Gloucestershire events

Library users across the county will be participating in the national day of action in libraries on Saturday 5th February.

It is fantastic that events are planned at so many libraries across the county, and we urge people of all ages, who love, use or care about our libraries to come along. Even if you don’t want to take part in any of the events, it would be great to just get as many people as possible into the libraries to show their support.

The day will be fun, but makes a serious point about the value of libraries in our communities, and the role they can play in bringing together people of all ages and from all walks of life.

We were thrilled to receive this message from award winning children’s author and library campaigner Alan Gibbons, whose brain-child the national day of action for libraries is;

“I have just read programme in full and I think it is a beacon to the whole country. What amazing organisation. Please communicate my admiration to all involved”.

Thanks Alan, and thanks to all of our wonderful supporters whose offers of help have been flooding in.
